Belbury Poly's sound:
Belbury Poly's sound is a blend of influences, ranging from old library music, 1960s-inspired psychedelic rock to soundtrack, folk and public information films. Jupp has spoken at length about trying to incorporate the mundanity of life in the 1970s and eldritch elements simultaneously in his music, as well as acknowledging a debt to the author Arthur Machen. The name references a fictional institution, created by the author C.S. Lewis in his novel That Hideous Strength.
