About
Deanna Bogart, born September 5, 1959, Washington, D.C., is a blues singer, pianist and saxophone player.

Drawing on a variety of musical sources ranging from boogie-woogie to New Orleans R&B to swing to rock and roll, Bogart emerged as one of the most eclectic performers in contemporary blues. She cut her teeth on the Maryland roots music circuit, including touring and recording with the Western Swing-influenced Cowboy Jazz . Following that band's breakup in 1986, Bogart played with Washington, D.C. bluesman Root Boy Slim.

Since releasing her first solo album in 1989, Bogart has toured extensively, opening for and/or playing with B.B. King, Brian Setzer, Buddy Guy, James Brown, Doctor John, They Might Be Giants, Spyro Gyra, Ray Charles, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and The Neville Brothers.

She has developed a crowd-pleasing style which often reminds reviewers of Jerry Lee Lewis, leaping up from her piano bench to chat with the audience, clad in her trademark black fedora.

In 2008, Bogart was featured in the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Revue’s first album and tour.

Her official website is at http://www.deannabogart.com/.
