Johnny Otis, whose real name is John Alexander Veliotes is an American musician, bandleader and composer, of Greek origin, born December 28, 1921 in Vallejo, California and died January 17, 2012 in Altadena (California), who helped popularize the rhythm and blues.

Johnny Otis founded the Ultra Records label in 1956 with Frank Gallo, Eddie Mesner and Leo Mesner. When they discovered that another label with the same name already existed, they changed the name to Dig Records.

In 1960, Johnny founded Eldo Records.

Inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 (Non-Performer).
