The Ramones have probably surpassed the Beatles as the most imitated band on the planet. Mean Jeans began as a tribute to Ramones ripoff bands, but the Portland, Ore. , outfit’s debut album, Are You Serious? (Dirtnap), sounds like these guys sneaked into Hollywood Forever Cemetery and smoked the ashes of Johnny and Dee Dee. A million bands go for this formula and fail, but Mean Jeans seem to have been injecting and snorting the formula for years.
