Eldest of four children, Charles, Victor and Roger. Seu Jorge had a hard childhood, but in the quiet neighborhood of Ema Gogó in Belford Roxo. He began working with ten years of age in a tire, first of several occupations as continuous, joiner and potato peeler in a bar. He served the Brazilian Army in 1989-1990, in Rio de Janeiro, the Armament Depot Center - DCArmt, made ​​in the course of military bugler 2nd Battalion Motorized Infantry School (DALY Regiment), but not adapted to military life, being licensed in January 1990. The various professions never overshadowed his real desire to become a musician.

Since teenager, attended wheels Rio samba accompanying his father and brothers in funk parties and dances charms the periphery, and soon began to professionalize singing at night. That's when the death of his brother Victor in a massacre led to the disintegration family, Seu Jorge and eventually became homeless for about three years.

The turning point came when the clarinetist Paulo Moura invited him to audition for a musical theater. It was eventually approved and participating in more than 20 shows with Teatro University of Rio de Janeiro, as a singer and actor.
