About
Redbird is the project of Vancouver artist, Savannah Leigh Wellman. Inspired by the words of legends such as Leonard Cohen, and the sounds of modern songstresses such as Lykke Li and St Vincent, Redbird's music is at times sweet and at others provocative.
“Redbird’s Savannah Leigh Wellman’s unmistakable seductiveness consigned the crowd into a prolonged frenzy. With their meticulous riffs, conducted by Wellman’s sweeping vocals, every song resounded as a rock ‘n’ roll adage, fully willing and capable of sending the horde into a full on swing.”
(Sam Hawkins, Discorder)
It was 2011 when Redbird's first EP, "We're all friends and lovers until it falls apart" was released, but Savannah has hardly been quiet since then. An in demand vocalist, she has appeared on stage and in recordings with local acts such as Portage and Main, Jody Glenham, JP Maurice, and many others. Redbird has appeared at Canadian Music Week, Rifflandia, Pop Okanagan, and opened for Canadian indie faves Yukon Blonde, Library Voices, Sun Wizard and more. But her impact isn't just felt on stage - her years of work behind the scenes with Music BC and the PEAK Performance Project have helped build Vancouver's music community into the vibrant and supportive scene that it is today.
