About
Yuna (born Yunalis Zarai) is a Malaysian singer-songwriter based in Selangor, Malaysia and Los Angeles, US. She released her first EP in 2008, and received praise. She won four awards at Malaysia's Anugerah Industri Muzik awards, including Best New Artist. Her first full-length album was released in 2010, titled "Decorate." Yuna was signed by a US label, "Indie-Pop," and released her first US EP, also titled "Decorate," which shared only the title track. She later signed with Pharrell Williams' Fader Label. Pharrell worked with Yuna on her first full-length, self-titled US album, released in 2012. "Yuna" debuted at #23 on the Billboard Pop chart and #86 on the Top 100 Albums on iTunes. Yuna received accolades from several publications, including Billboard, NPR, Elle, NY Times, Vibe, Allure, Seventeen, MTV Style, Marie Claire and National Geographic.

Her style has been favorably compared to Norah Jones and Rachael Yamagata. Her influences include Fiona Apple, Feist, Lykke Li, Sia, Bob Dylan and The Cardigans. Yuna describes her music as “a cross between Mary Poppins and Coldplay”.
